A Little Info About Zinfandel
Pronunciation: (ZIN-fahn-dell)
Full of fruit and sweet 'grapey' flavor, Zinfandel has become a darling among California producers. Zinfandel thrives in upper elevation vineyards where it develops generous sugar levels and moderately high levels of tannins. Along with Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel has become swept up in the movement of California's "big" wines, famous for their high alcohol levels and intense fruitiness.
While able to be used as a blending grape, Zinfandel is often bottled as-is with tremendous results. Ignore cheap white zinfandels (boxed or otherwise) and dive into a deep red Zinfandel - you won’t be disappointed.
