Winemaker's Comments: 2003 Sterling Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
A deep purple, red ruby hue, the nose shows elegant black plum fruit with layers of rose petals, toffee, chocolate, vanilla and anise, also hints of eucalyptus. On the palate, the wine is bright and well balanced with a rich mouthfeel. Flavors of ripe blackberry, plum and black cherry are followed by notes of nutmeg, cloves and a long dark chocolate finish, with soft, chalky tannins.

A lot of tannins! Finishes in a flash with limited complexity. Almost burgundy to the nose, pine needles, slight bug repellant odor but not offensive. Positives: cherry and plum with typical oaky flavor.
