Winemaker's Comments: 2005 Alice White Chardonnay
This classic Australian Chardonnay is bursting with tropical fruit flavors and delicate green apple aromas. The wine has an elegant feel in the mouth and a crisp, clean finish.

Seafood Required?
Perhaps the $2.00 off seafood coupon attached to the wine bottle should have been an indication that seafood should have been purchased to accompany the wine. Ignoring the subtle (blatant?) hint, I chose to pair the wine with nothing but the cool evening air - which may have been another mistake since I associate white wine with the afternoon, preferably outdoors. This wine from the Outback had hints of crisp green apple, peach and strawberry. A nice summer sipper but I missed the buttery finish that most Chardonnays promise.

This South Eastern Australia wine is a deceptive little guy - when you're razzing him for being out of place in a high society event, he punches you in the nuts and knees you in the face when you keel over. But unlike Crocodile Dundee, if your girlfriend has any taste at all, she won't run off with him. Not very aromatic, but strong fruity rubbing alcohol taste. Hard to ignore, so pair with food accordingly.
