Winemaker's Comments: 2006 Daniel Gehrs Wines Vixen Vivant Rosé
While a pretty pink wine that goes by the name of Vixen may bring to mind a provocative rendezvous on a warm summer day, this dry Syrah rose is as resourcefully complex and thought provoking as the most thoroughly planned affaire romantique. Think "aromatherapy" while breathing in bouquets of lavender, savory herbs and red rose petals. Flavors of sumptuous wild strawberry fruit lounge sensually on a bed of mineral and earthy undertones, this is a serious and seductive wine with endless food pairing potential. It will stand up to more than your average rose, and look good doing it! Only 159 cases produced.

I was outfoxed by this vixen. In the tasting room I did indeed think “aromatherapy” as suggested and came up with all sorts of unique flavors. I brought a bottle home to explore more and found nothing beyond a spicy muskmelon nose. Hard to rate this wine. In the tasting room it was a solid four, at home a two.
