Winemaker's Comments: 2004 Francis Coppola Black Label Claret Cabernet Sauvignon
Francis Coppola Diamond Collection wines are made from grapes selected throughout California's unique and diverse viticultural regions. Precise winemaking techniques and aging methods which best showcase the grapes' characteristics culminate in complex and robust wines.
Originally a term used by the British to describe cabernet based wines, our Black Label Claret boasts a dark garnet color and lively aromas of black currant, allspice, and mocha. Succulent flavors of wild berries, black plums, and anise are deepened by the rich, silky texture. Enjoy this wine on its own or serve it with fennel-crusted lamb chops or gorgonzola ravioli.

Floating Cork Wine Review & Rating By Jeff O'Brien |

So many winemaker's notes, immediately scream out "overcompensation!" Truth is, though, this multi-layered wine does a good job of hitting all of those listed flavors and making them distinct. It has the deep, thick berry flavors promised and even a slight twist of cream soda on top of that. That's right, this is almost the Diet Vanilla Cherry Dr. Pepper that all of my metrosexual friends are clamoring about so much these days. Just like that trendy beverage, however, it comes off a little over-done. A little too little blending. Dig? Yeah, you dig. You always dig. I love you.
