Winemaker's Comments: 2004 Sanford Chardonnay
A blend of grapes from La Rinconada, Sanford & Benedict, and Bien Nacido Vineyards. This crisp, well structured Chardonnay is a good example of our "house style". The wine has bright tropical fruit notes with underlying minerality. Part barrel fermented and part tank fermented, the oak is in the background and helps to support the fruit rather than overwhelm it. This is a versatile wine that can pair with a variety of foods, including lighter pasta dishes and grilled seafood.

2004 Sanford Chardonnay
True to its varietal, this Chardonnay has a lot to offer in the ways of earthy flavors. It's got an excellent mouth feel and a slight bite on the finish - but just enough to remind you that you're drinking a solid wine. No imitation Chards allowed at Sanford.

Again, I find myself describing an aroma as "indistinctly fruity"; this probably means I have poor olfactory distinction capabilities so take my comments with a grain of salt. Despite all this, I managed to identify through my own two noseholes and mouth trap some pleasant apple and an extremely light vanilla finish. Like Michael Jordan, this Chardonnay is good, but not great (I'm referring to MJ's heart.)
