Winemaker's Comments: 2005 Lincourt Foley & Phillips (Dry) Rosé
A classically made rose wine comprised of three Rhone-varieties; Syrah, Grenache and Cinsault. The grapes were harvested relatively early (22.5 brix, sugar) yielding fresh acids and ultimately lower alcohol levels at dryness. At the winery, the fruit was whole-cluster pressed with minimal skin-to-juice contact which bestows the wine with a salmon-like color. Inoculated following pressing the wine is fermented dry and bottled shortly after completion. A perfect wine year-round, the nose features notes of strawberry, grapefruit, rhubarb and white pepper spice. Crisp and clean the wine finishes dry. Drink now through 2007.

I liked the rhubarb finish - it was quite surprising. A definite summer-on-the-patio sipper.
