Winemaker's Comments: 2004 Borsao Tres Picos "Garnacha" Grenache
The grapes for this exceptional wine were harvested from old vine Grenache vineyards that cling to rugged terrain on the slopes of the famous Moncayo mountain. Low yeilds of less than two tons per acre produce a rich, deeply colored and aromatic wine with concentrated flavors of blackberries, strawberries and nuances of leather, vanilla and plums.

Heaviest Bottle Ever
Discussing wines with Jen at the wine store (an embarrassingly frequent occurrence) I proclaimed immediately that this was the heaviest bottle I've ever lifted. Not 30 seconds later the proprietor of the shop passed by, noticed the titan of a bottle in my hand and said "can you believe how heavy that bottle is?" So there you have it - definitive proof that the bottle is heavy. How does this impact the wine? Not at all, so I'll drop it already.
We cracked this beast over dinner with some family and I was by far the most impressed with it. In fact I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend this bottle. It was bold and rich without being overpowering, and had a really solid, fruity flavor. Hey, it's a Grenache, so you know it's going to pair well with nearly anything you put on the table and it's not going to bowl you over with intensity. Mild, smooth, delicious... and the bottle is heavy.
