Winemaker's Comments: 2001 Manyana Crianza Tempranillo
Crianza translates to "aged" in Spanish. A wine labeled with the distinction of "Crianza" must spend 6 months aging in oak barrels, and another 6 months aging in the bottle, for a total of 1 year at the bodega before release.
This easy drinking and balanced wine offers full flavors of strawberry and cherry, layered with toasted oak and vanilla spice, offering supple tannins on a very long velvety finish.

Fancy Label = Fancy Wine?
We've been big fans of the Manyana label because its wine encompasses so much that's good about Spanish reds - tasty, bold, fruity and unique wine that pairs well with a meal without having to hog all of the limelight. When we hapened upon this fancier version of our usual Manyana Tempranillo (2001 estate bottled version) we were forced to determine whether a fancier label and an extra $3 was an indication of a finer wine. Turns out the wine was ever so slightly different than the usual, so on the whole there's no need to spend the extra money. That said, if you're looking to one-up your friends or family you can bust out this estate-bottled label and smack down the bringers of basic, old-fashioned Tempranillos. Ka-pow!
