Winemaker's Comments: 2004 Edna Valley Vineyard San Luis Obispo County Merlot
With the 2004 vintage, Edna Valley releases its first-ever Merlot, made from grapes grown mainly in northern San Luis Obispo County. It is darkly colored, with berry and cherry flavors, firm tannins and a dash of green olive in the finish.

Disappearing Act
Tobacco nose with a slightly spicy/dry smell. As soon as the wine hits your taste buts it reveals vanilla and caramel but quickly pulls a disappearing act... Within seconds the flavor vanishes into an almost watery finish. Is it the medium-bodied tannins to blame? This reviewer can't say, but it leaves me wanting the flavor to last a wee longer.

2004 Edna Valley Reserve
Interesting wine. I never thought a flavor reminiscent of my childhood would reveal itself in a wine, but there it was, hints of Big League Chew with a finish of sweet wet tobacco and oaky aromas.

2004 Edna Valley Vineyard Merlot
Like Pat Sajak’s career, this wine is syrup-y with a non-existent finish. Did you hurt yourself from that stretch?
